If you want to get update date with or without time in excel, Today formula is used to return current date that you are working on and Now formula also return the current date but with current time. Let see how both are use in practise.

Today formula in Excel

TODAY returns the current date only. You can use shortcut key to input the current date by pressing CTRL + ; on keyboard.
FORMULA:

=TODAY()

NOW formula in Excel

NOW returns the current date with time but you can change format to display only time or date. You can use shortcut key to input the current date and time by pressing CTRL + SHIFT + ; on keyboard.
FORMULA:

=NOW()
